Total fluid management services to help keep mines operating efficiently
Techenomics services and products have key role to play on mine sites
Techenomics has the fluid management expertise to help mines keep mining fleets and hydraulic equipment operating effectively at all times, minimising maintenance downtime and preventing component breakdowns.
Wherever lubricants are used to keep engines and hydraulic equipment operating, Techenomics condition monitoring and oil analysis services as well as its Liquid Tungsten products have a key role to play in any asset health program.
For the past 30 years the company has been helping mines in various global locations and in a wide range of environments to optimise operations.
Techenomics CEO Chris Adsett said that mining was a key beneficiary of the company’s services and products.
As an example, he said, the company had been providing a range of services to a large, successful mine for the past 10 years, including:
- Mobile equipment oil analysis;
- Fixed plant oil analysis;
- Coolant analysis;
- Transformer oil analysis and DGA (Dissolved Gas) analysis;
- Fuel analysis; and
- Grease analysis.
Techenomics has successfully implemented an ongoing Asset Health Program at the mine comprising four main parts:
- Magnetic plug program and training;
- Oil sampling competency training including for the open pit, for fleet maintenance and for the concentrator;
- Audit at open pit area; and
- Support to improve oil analysis program at open pit area including an oil analysis session in the weekly mine maintenance meeting.
Through a comprehensive on-site training program conducted by Techenomics, the mine has improved its condition monitoring program, including lubricant management and contamination control, and has incorporated these measures in its maintenance programs.
The program and the training of all team members has resulted in lower costs of consumables and reduced equipment failures. The team was able to detect problematic areas which were causing downtime, unexpected failure and costly repairs.
A qualified engineer from Techenomics was on-site, working with staff and training them over a 12-month period.
A spokesperson for the mine team said: “The service provided by Techenomics in the framework of this project has supported the successful implementation of our equipment monitoring and brought our asset health management to the next level.
“The use of the Blue Oceans program implemented by Techenomics provides the opportunity for users to view and analyze data in more detail.
“Techenomics provides real data from their lab to our server. Departments are using it to predict the condition of their equipment and create long-term trends.
“As a local based and independent service provider, Techenomics provided the entire program in a timely, professional and consistent manner within a suitable timeframe.
“In terms of laboratory services, we are happy to work with Techenomics because of the 24/7 flexibility and reliable communication,” he said.
“For mines large and small, in temperatures cold or hot or a mix of both, in wet or dry regions, in remote or well-populated areas, we can help operators design, implement and operate effective asset health programs,” Adsett said.
“Our fluid management services can also include the training of mine staff to run their own programs supported by our ongoing expertise and our easy-to-use Blue Oceans software package.”
