Techenomics takes to the airwaves to spread the good oil

Operations manager Jason Davis has spoken on radio in northwest New South Wales Techenomics has taken to the airwaves to spread the word about its total fluid management services and products that help operators extend the life of lubricants, engines and components thereby reducing costs and enhancing productivity. Operations manager in Australia Jason Davis has spoken on radio stations serving the North West Slopes and Plains region of New South Wales with the company’s east coast operations based in Gunnedah at the heart of this large agricultural and mining region. He explained to listeners that the company’s core business was analysing lubricants – “We sample it, test it and provide a report back to the customer on the state of the oil as well as the condition of the component from which the sample was taken. “In Australia we have large involvement with the rail industry but also work with the mining and agricultural sectors as well as in other industrial applications. We also provide our services to vehicle fleets and to individual vehicle owners.” The east coast of Australia, from Tasmania to Far North Queensland, is serviced from the Gunnedah laboratory and operations while the west, including its large mining industry, is serviced from a laboratory in Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Using the independent company’s specialised equipment and trained staff, Davis said Techenomics could ascertain whether injectors were leaking, check for fuel dilation, water ingress, viscosity, wear metals and contaminants, cleanliness of oil and fuel, if heads were corroded, if pistons were wearing and check the condition of liners and bearings. “As well as analysing lubricants, our service also as a preventative maintenance program. We can provide an early detection of what is wearing so that operators can take action to prevent that component from failing, or can purchase parts before the component fails, thus preventing costly downtime. “We do similar work to doctors in that we have a look at the internal components of engines using lubricant analysis and advise on action to ensure the well-being of the component.” Davis said the company also distributed Liquid Tungsten, an additive to assist customers to reduce friction. “By reducing internal friction in an engine or gearbox, operating temperatures are reduced and less wear is generated which helps extend lubricant life as well as component life.” In outlining the benefits of the services and products, the operations manager told listeners: “We can help reduce your overall costs by extending the life of lubricants and components. “If we can help to get an extra 100 hours or 100,000 kilometres out of your engine, it is a large benefit for customers.” The analysis process starts with sampling and Techenomics provides oil analysis kits comprising a small bottle, sampling tube, a pump or syringe to extract the sample from the component and instructions. “We can provide hands-on training in the procedure or, if feasible, can come out to the site to take samples ourselves.” After this process, samples are sent to the laboratory where they are analysed with state-of-the-art equipment operated by fully trained staff, with results and the appropriate course of action delivered to customers by the company’s Blue Oceans software package. “We have a quick turnaround time – it is generally 24 or 48 hours for most samples but can be as little as one or two hours for urgent samples providing we are informed why it is urgent,” Davis said. “Anyone who wants to look after their engine, transmission, gearbox or any component in which lubricant is used should get in contact with us,” he added.
