Global total fluid management company Techenomics comes to the Pilbara

Techenomics comes to the PilbaraGlobal total fluid management company Techenomics International is establishing a presence in the Pilbara and will offer its independent specialised oil analysis and condition monitoring service to the mining industry and associated service operations.

From its base in Newman, Techenomics will offer a quick turnaround with its services that are aimed at analysing oil and other lubricants to predict maintenance issues before they arise, thereby helping mines, transport and associated industries reduce maintenance and improve productivity.

In addition to these specialised services, Techenomics will also be distributing the unique Liquid Tungsten technology that when added to oil and lubricants minimise friction, lower operating temperatures, improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions.

Techenomics International CEO Chris Adsett said optimisation was a key factor of today’s mining operations and this was also the primary outcome of Techenomics’ services and products.

“Continual optimisation and improvement of operations is vital for the Pilbara to maintain its position as a world-leading mining centre and at Techenomics this is at the very core of our business.

“We are constantly developing new technology and improvements to our services and products and this includes superior methods of gathering, interpreting and delivering data.”

He added: “As part of our development and commitment to enable clients to gain more from their oil and lubricants, we are exclusive distributors of Liquid Tungsten technology to the mining industry and we believe this product will make a major difference to mining and transport in the Pilbara.”

Adsett said the company had been operating for more than 30 years and specialised in the mining space, which made establishing a presence in the Pilbara, one of the world’s premier mining regions, a natural progression.

“We started operating in the Hunter Valley coal region centred on Newcastle and have grown steadily and now have a significant presence in the massive coal operations of Kalimantan in Indonesia.

“Techenomics has also been successful in Mongolia where we serve the major Oyu Tolgoi Copper-Gold Project of Rio Tinto, along with other mines and other industries in the developing North Asian country.

“We also serve mining, transport, marine and industry in other parts of Indonesia, as well as Singapore and Thailand and we are establishing in Africa, including the continent’s east, south and west, areas which have a strong, and growing, mining presence.”

Along with an oil analysis laboratory equipped with the latest oil analysis technology and manned by experts in the field, the company will also have an office and from these premises will serve the ever-developing Pilbara region and its transport infrastructure.

To support the operations, the company has appointed Brett Elphick as Operations Manager – West Coast.

Brett Elphick’s extensive experience in mining and industry in Western Australia is expected to drive use of Techenomics’ services and products in the vast state where most mines are large and remote operations, requiring major infrastructure, including ports and transport, which can all benefit from the input of the company.

While spending 15 years at SGS, Brett was involved in all aspects of laboratory work and liaising with clients large and small about their lubricant and laboratory needs culminating in his appointment as Technical Services Manager for the past five years. The SGS experience incorporated technical capabilities, customer liaison, site visits, business development, staff training, laboratory management and operations, establishing and implementing predictive/preventative maintenance programs, use of software and adhering to applicable OHS, environment and quality standards.

Prior to SGS, Brett also gained experience in similar tribology services, including laboratory operations, with Australian Laboratory Services.
