Techenomics establishes presence in mining stronghold of the Pilbara

A new oil analysis laboratory is being established in Newman
The Pilbara area of Western Australia is one of the world’s premier iron ore mining regions while other metals including gold, copper and battery metals are being increasingly sought and found and now independent total fluid management provider Techenomics International has established a direct presence.

Techenomics will provide oil analysis and fluid management services aimed at assisting mining and supportive industries in the Pilbara through an office and new oil analysis laboratory in Newman.

The company is also distributing the unique inorganic fullerene-like tungsten disulphide (IFWS2) nano-particle technology that enhances the performance of oil and lubricants, thereby reducing maintenance, optimising performance and reducing emissions.

The world’s major miners BHP Group and Rio Tinto have extensive operations along with Fortescue Metals Group and despite all doing well with a strong iron ore market supporting increased prices, the importance of optimising operations to maximise production and minimise the impact on the environment has never been more important.

As well as having considerable mineral endowment, the vast Pilbara region also benefits from strong infrastructure, including large mine operations, an extensive rail network and a number of export ports but it is also important for the region’s productivity and lower environmental footprint goals that infrastructure is also optimised.

Techenomics has a history of serving the oil analysis and fluid management needs of mining in New South Wales and Queensland and in particular the bulk coal mining industry for more than 30 years. The company also services large bulk mining scenarios in Indonesia and Mongolia, has operations serving industry and transport in Singapore and Thailand and has a growing presence in eastern and western Africa.

Techenomics CEO Chris Adsett said it made a lot of sense for the company to establish a presence in the Pilbara to work with and for the mining industry and supportive industries.

“This will enable us to provide an up-to-the-minute service for companies as well as mine, transport and port operators using our proven services and products backed up by experienced staff, a global network of expertise, the latest analysis and condition monitoring technology, and our leading software.

“And this is enhanced by the use of IFWS2 technology developed by NIS and for which we are exclusive distributors to the mining industry.”

The IFWS2 technology has been proven by Techenomics in ongoing tests and trials and it is the company’s intention to continue trials within the iron ore industry and transport network in the Pilbara.

Supporting the Techenomics’ presence will be Manu Madan, who has much management experience in the mining management area, which she believes will benefit the mining industry and the Pilbara region.

Manu said: “The equation for investment in Western Australia as a research base, product hub and success story in a discreet understanding between businesses, local and FIFO workers, are motivated challenges set by new world symphonies and promises of peace as a display of containment.”

She said the biggest, most vocal, activist was the conclusion that change has already occurred.

“The climate change movement has produced a mentality that there will be no compromise to achieve not just targets but well considered and history making managerial decisions,” she concluded.

Chris Adsett said the company’s services and, in particular, the use of IFWS2 with lubricants, had an important role to play in helping to create a cleaner and greener world with a smaller environmental footprint.
