Fluid analysis also important in preventative maintenance
As well as analysing oil and lubricants, Techenomics also specialises in analysis of other fluids, including diesel fuel, biofuels and engine coolants.
These fluids are also critical in ensuring smooth and efficient running of engines and hydraulic equipment.
If you are having reliability or performance problems with your engines and machines but don’t want to incur the time and cost impasse of dismantling the engine and searching for a needle in a haystack, Techenomics analysis services provide the solution.
The independent, innovative fluid analysis programs provide the fastest, most accurate, reliable and cost effective solution to see what is going on inside engines and machines.
The condition of fluids in your machinery says a lot about its overall health and, according to Techenomics CEO Chris Adsett, fluid sampling and analysis should be an important component of a preventative maintenance program.
Techenomics Technology and Product Development manager Eka Karmila says there are a number of standard tests that the company carries out at its laboratories to test these fluids.
She says for diesel fuel and biodiesel the tests check important factors such as particle count and cleanliness, water content, flash point, viscosity, pour point, sulphur content, sediment and ash content.
Other factors include density, distillation, colour, TAN, SAN, Calculated Cetane Index, Conradson Carbon Residue, copper strip corrosion and FAME content.
For engine water coolant the laboratory tests checks factors such as acidity, conductivity, reserve alkalinity, molybdate, nitrite, SCA, trace chloride, TDS, colour and appearance.
She says the tests also check solids, oil content, odour, inhibitor percentage, glycol percentage and for the presence of iron, copper, aluminium, lead, zinc and silicon.
Chris Adsett says, “With a fluid analysis program, you won’t have to guess if it’s time to change fluids or overhaul your engine, transmission or hydraulic system.
“Over time, our fluid analysis program establishes a trend for each machine that helps every client make informed, proactive decisions on machine maintenance.
“The end result is less downtime, lower stress levels and the optimising of drain intervals, all of which save you money.”
