Want to improve the performance of lubricants?

chris-adsett-ceoTungsten disulphide additives reduce friction and wear

Nano-sized tungsten disulphide additives improve the performance of lubricants by reducing friction which lowers operating temperatures and limits metal wear. These properties result in improved productivity and reduced costs for operators of engines and hydraulic equipment.

Techenomics is distributing the tungsten disulphide additives across its extensive network because the technology complements the industry-leading fluid management services it offers and helps maximise the life and performance of lubricants and greases.

There are tungsten disulphide additives available through Techenomics to suit a range of mining, construction, industrial, energy generation and transport purposes, and a variety of oils and fluids, including engine oils, gear oils and greases.

Tungsten Disulphide Additives

Techenomics CEO Chris Adsett says the tungsten disulphide additives act like ball-bearings between metal surfaces and exfoliate to repair micro-cracking and spalling in contact situations. “They form a micro layer on metals to protect the working surfaces and prevent them from touching. The reduction in friction leads to lower operating temperatures and lower wear.

“The shape of the particles allows them to roll between the metal surfaces of engines, components and hydraulic equipment, reducing friction by up to 30%.

“The addition of these nano-sized particles to oil and grease improves the lubricating ability. Lower wear leads to longer component life, lower operating temperatures allow for more production and lower contaminants in the oil extend the oil’s life,” he said.

As well as being fluid management and condition monitoring experts, Techenomics’ staff are committed to providing clients with a total package to cater for their individual and unique lubricant situations. The tungsten disulphide additive technology complements this package and Chris Adsett says staff are only too pleased to discuss the applications and benefits with operators of engines, plant and equipment.
