What is OGL, what does it do?
OGL is an open gear lube, it’s a premium lithium soap thickened Open Gear lubricant that is designed primarily to provide protection for open gears, bushings, rollers and rails, dipper stick handles and is also suitable for use on wire ropes.
What is the advantage what does it do?
OnSpec advantage Lithplex 1 moly grease is superior lithium complex extra heavy duty grease ,it has excellent wear protection for sliding and shock load conditions, it is a high temperature, extreme pressure [ep] grease designed to meet the demands of the most severe and hostile industrial and of-highway applications and conditions.
Why do we take oil samples on the earthmoving equipment?
Testing oil samples will enable you to monitor and control of contamination of oil. This in turn will help you to understand what's wrong with your equipments in oder to continue with regular maintenance.
Can the oil sample tell you if the engine is on its way out?
Yes. The following tests which could possibly tell you why there is a failure in equipment: Spectrometer is used to detect wear metals, additives and contaminants (dirt and water ingress). FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared) is used to detect soot (excess carbon particles due o incomplete combustion), oxidations (mainly due heat, water and air). Flash test is to detect fuel dilution. It is critical to detect fuel in engine oil; excess amount of fuel in engine could lead to an explosion.
What are the kinds of things you look for in oil samples?
There are few important things such as wear metals, viscosity (which gives oil grade), contaminants, fuel dilution, additives levels and TBN (total base number) TBN will tell you how much additives are left in oils. Additives act as anti-corrosion. TAN (Total Acid Number) gives you an indication of oxidation level.

Why is 680 Gear Oil used in shovel?
OnSpec gear oils are used in a range of industrial and marine applications, especially spur, helical, bevel and worm gears. Operating under heavy and/or shock load conditions.
What are the difference between OGL and Advantage?
The difference between OGL and Advantage is that OGL is used for open gears and Advantage is used for bearings and plain bearings couplings heavily loaded joints and pin plus gears.
